Important Notice About Browser Compatibility
We have detected that you are using an older web browser that will soon no longer be compatible with the GreenFax web site, due to changing security requirements. It is imperative that you upgrade to a newer web browser by June 1, 2015 in order to continue to use the GreenFax web site. After June 1, 2015, the web browser that you are using will no longer be supported.
The following browsers are (and will continue to remain) compatible with GreenFax:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
- Mozilla Firefox 27 and higher
- Apple Safari 7 and higher
- Google Chrome 26 and higher
Why is this happening?
The short answer: The level of security that your web browser uses when it creates a secure connection to our site (or any secure site) is no longer considered to be sufficiently secure.
The long answer: When your web browser creates a secure connection to a web site, an SSL/TLS protocol is used to secure the connection. Over time, older protocols become less secure, and newer/stronger protocols are developed. The browser that you are using is not capable of using a protocol newer/stronger than TLS 1.0, such as TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2. The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council recently mandated that web sites which accept credit card information (as we do at our site) must discontinue support TLS 1.0. As such, we are required to disable TLS 1.0 on our site in order to remain PCI compliant. Because your browser is not capable of using TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2, your browser will no longer be able to make a secure connection to our site after we disable TLS 1.0. More info >.
